Hi!   I'm Zefeng Chen (陈泽丰).

I am currently an Associate Professor at School of Artificial Intelligence, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Previously, I was a Research Fellow working under the tutelage of Prof. Yew-Soon Ong and Dr. Abhishek Gupta at Nanyang Technological University (NTU). In June 2019, I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Technology from SYSU, under the supervision of Prof. Yuren Zhou. Before that, I received the B.Sc. degree in Information and Computational Science from SYSU in June 2013, and the M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Technology from South China University of Technology (SCUT) in June 2016.

Work Experience

Research Interests

My current research interests are Intelligent Optimization & Learning & Decision. Specifically, I conduct research from diverse aspects including but not limited to:

  1. Intelligent Optimization: involving the customized design of Intelligent Optimization algorithms (including Genetic Algorithms, Evolution Strategies, etc.) and Bayesian Optimization algorithms for different special scenarios such as multi-objective/many-objective optimization, multitask optimization, expensive optimization, data-driven optimization, and large-scale optimization;
  2. Evolutionary Learning: mainly exploring how to adapt Evolutionary Computation approaches to solving complex problems in the fields of Machine Learning, Deep Reinforcement Learning and AutoML (including feature engineering, hyperparameter optimization, and neural architecture search) in an effective & efficient manner;
  3. Swarm Intelligence: involving the design of Swarm Intelligence approaches (including Particle Swarm Optimization, Ant Colony Optimization, etc.) for diverse practical applications.
